MAKHANA ALOO TIKKI | MAKHANA CUTLET RECIPE

Makhana Aloo Tikki Recipe (Spiced Lotus Seed Patties Recipe) is a delicious snack made from makhana/lotus seeds which is toasted, pound and mixed with potato and flavoured with Indian spice.  Lotus seeds or fox nuts, which are commonly known as makhana, are said to have the most amazing health benefits that a snack could never provide you with.



Makhanas are very low on fat as well as cholesterol so whenever you need to satisfy those untimely hunger pangs, these are the best choice. It lowers high blood pressure and is the best indulgence for people with diabetes.

INGREDIENTS OF MAKHANA CUTLET/TIKKI

·         1 Cup Lotus/ Makhana Seed (Buy on Amazon)

·         2 Finely Chopped Green Chilli

·         2 Tablespoon Roasted Peanuts

·         1 Teaspoon Chaat Masala

·         1/4 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder

·         4 Teaspoon Ghee

·         4 Potato

·         1 Teaspoon Fennel Seeds

·         1 Bunch Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves

·         1/2 Teaspoon Garam Masala Powder

·         2 Dashes Black Salt

·         1/2 Cup Refined Oil

MAKING MAKHANA CUTLET/TIKKI

1.       To make this delicious dish, you need to roast the lotus seeds (makhana) in a frying pan with the little ghee.

2.       Let them cool, after makhana cools down, grind the roasted makhana to make a coarse powder using mixer/grinder.

3.       Boil the potatoes in a pressure cooker and add enough water to cover the potatoes. (Buy on Amazon)

4.       Cook the potatoes for 1-2 whistle and let the cooker pressure release naturally.

5.       Peel and Mash the boiled potatoes.

6.       Heat oil in a frying pan, add the mashed potatoes in the frying pan and cook it along with the powdered lotus seeds (makhana).

7.       Add the remaining ingredients - Garam Masala Powder, Fennel Seeds, roasted peanut after this and sprinkle the appropriate amount of salt and spices as per your taste.

8.       Taking a small portion of the mixture in your hands and try to shape it in the form of a tikki or a cutlet.

9.       Grease both the sides with the required amount of oil.

10.   Heat shallow frying pan and shallow fry them over medium flame until they turn golden brown on both sides.

Take out the cutlets onto your plates and enjoy them with green chutney.
